Business major a good idea?

rajzep,

Actually, I said that there is NO a particular pre med major, which means that you can major in anything you want. As I know, in order to get into med school, you have to have a bachelors degree, and pass an exam–you cannot just take a bunch of classes and get there.
On the other hand, for nursing, you can just take some classes and take an exam to get into the program, but you do not need to have an actual degree.

If you came from India, then you probably should major in business. Many American companies moved to India and China, which means that you will be able to find a good job there, especially if you have you degree from the U.S. (employers will prefer you to someone who have studied in India). My friends have similar experience: they received their bachelors and masters degrees in business from here, and then went back. Now, they are very successful, and get paid much more than other people because they are working for American/foreign companies.

But, I cannot say the same about the medical field. Doctors in America, with all my respect, are too narrow, and they almost do not know anything besides their specialization.

It almost like this: “In the U.S., there is a doctor of the left hand, and there is a doctor of the right hand. If you ask the left hand doctor what happened to your right hand, he/she will look at you like a dumbfounded.”

By the way, my uncle is a surgeon, and when he came to U.S., he was amazed by this fact. He talked to the local doctors, and found out that those doctors know nothing besides their specialization. Yet, Eastern doctors have a very broad knowledge. You may ask a dentist whether you are pregnant, and he/she will lecture you how to take care of your baby, and even how to give a birth–and I am not being sarcastic. That’s why I think that, if you want to be a doctor, you should probably go back to India. The only thing is that doctors in India, and other Eastern countries, might not have an access to the modern technology, for the lack of the monetary support, and this is definitely a big con.

NO. The only thing they will care about is your GPA; and, if you are going to prestigious business school, then they might ask you about the letters of recommendation/work experience/activities, and so on. They will NOT ask you about your SAT only if you complete your associates degree, or at least have more than, in some schools, 24 college credits. Otherwise, when you going to transfer, you will be asked to provide your high school diploma, and probably your SAT scores.

You’re right except for the frat and excellent position part. My GPA is around a C average so I likely won’t even get a job after graduation, but I am going to college to pick up women and have fun, majoring in business is kind of like a side project.
