Business Majors

Hello. I am currently attending UCI, but I realize that I want to major in international business. Unfortunately, UCI does not have international business as a major. So I am deciding whether or not I should transfer to California State Polytechnic Pomona or California State Fullerton or double major in Business Administration and Business Economics at UCI hoping that it would make up for international business. Please help. Thank you.

*Reasons why I am deciding between these two cal states are because I heard that they have wonderful business programs and both schools are within a decent amount of mile(s) for me to drive to and from home.

You should consider SDSU’s International Business program only if the distance is within reason. Their program is ranked much higher than CSUF’s and CPP’s.

UCI has an outstanding business program - stick where you are, Minor in a language, spend a quarter or two abroad and - you are awful close to an international biz major.

NCalRent beat me to the punch!

Perhaps you could stay at UCI and double major in business and either a language or cultural studies (say Spanish or Latin American Studies). In essence make your own “international business” program even if the school doesn’t offer one.

You really need to look carefully at the curricula of the various programs to understand exactly what classes you’ll be taking. You also want to understand which school grants the degree. It could be the business school, the arts & sciences school or a joint degree.

Thank you @Gumbymom for the suggestion, but I actually got rejected there. So that college is kind of out of the picture. However, I am still open to any other suggestions that you may have.

I was thinking of just double majoring in Business Administration and Business Economics and minor in International Studies, but will I still be able to obtain my masters with a concentration in International Business at a graduate school? Thank you. @NCalRent

You should stick with UCI’s business school. The business school is relatively new, but UCI has a good reputation and that carries a lot of weight. After your undergraduate degree, work a few years and you can apply for graduate business school and concentrate on international studies.
