Business (Management) or History?

My plans right now are to go through ROTC all four years of college and commission as an officer in the US Army upon graduation. Don’t know how long I’ll be in; it could be a few years, it could be a career. Long story short, I obviously need a degree to do this.
Right now I’m a ‘Pre-Business’ major since I’m only a freshmen. When I become a third year I’ll choose what sect of business to go into, and I’m thinking I’ll go into management.
That being said, I have always had an interest in history, and honestly I’ve been pretty good at it in every aspect of school and other random discussions outside of school. Earlier I thought about engineering because I was good at math too, but I don’t enjoy mathematics very much at all. In all aspects of academics, history is by far the one that peaks my interest the most.

So here’s my question: Should I switch from business to history? Or should I maybe consider double majoring in the two?

All I would look to do with my history major is become a history teacher in high school after my career in the Army, so it would be a ways off until I would use it. Honestly the same goes with Business, but it’s no secret which of the two would be a higher money maker.
I’d like to see someone’s thoughts on this topic and what I should consider for after the Army. I visited an adviser but he wasn’t to helpful (ie. “do whatever you want” and that BS).
Thanks in advance!

I don’t think anyone here could give you a better answer than what you deemed to be the “BS” that the army adviser said. Nobody knows you, your aptitudes, nobody knows what will excite and interest you etc. You may not yet know yourself. And as a freshman you have plenty of time to figure it out. I would suggest that you start off and take a mix of some introductory business courses and history courses and see where things take you.

If you pursue a 20+ year career in the military likely will not matter much if you major in history or management (unless your goal is to work in the business office of the military) and even if you leave the military after 5 years of service you may find that your interests/goals etc. could be changed based on your experiences.
