Me again! Hey, everyone new and old. Thanks for commenting on my last question. Here’s a new one if you don’t mind!!
As a female, I worry if I pursue business I might not be as satisfied with the pay say if I were to pursue medicine. Most CEO’s are male and I read somewhere only 2% are women. Now if this is true, I might pursue going to med school and working on pre med courses instead of interning at say, Google. What do you guys feel is the smarter move in your opinion?
I’m the type of person that likes stability when it comes to finance. My single mom doesn’t have much and it’s always been a dream of mine to make sure I can support myself. I liked business because it allows you to grow? I feel like… And it’s also requires me to be a leader in the work force. I’m just really stuck on this and I’m young and naïve I know but if someone could give me insight that would be helpful
1). Doctors don’t make what they used to.
2). There are way more well paying jobs in business than CEO!
3). I would not recommend medical school “for the money”.
What a quick reply! Thank you. As a low income student, and a human being in general, I have to say it’s hard to not to look at the pay. Especially when I said before, I want stability in life. I do appreciate your insight.
Going to med school wasn’t for the money. I never said that. Actually when I was a kid I really looked up to doctors making a difference. Only recently did I start wanting to pursue business, but like I said. It seems sticky for women… @HRSMom
It is fine for women. I promise.
Do what you want to do with your life/career. You should enjoy it! The money will follow:).
Totally agree with above .
Medicine is an all consuming career as I suspect would be CEO.
Explore and figure out where your passion lies.
Medicine is a long and tortuous road that will eventually lead to financial stability and job security but will likely not bring immense wealth.
Business careers could be hit or miss.
Go with your passion.
