I currently am enrolled for the Fall of 2016 semester at MSU as an incoming freshman. Looking ahead I’m trying to figure out if my major is best for the path I want to move towards. My current major is Economics (BS), and I wish to move into Broad after I get my Economics degree, to work toward an MBA. So my question is, Is Economics the right major to be considered for the Broad School of Business?
Thanks!
I’m confused about what you’re asking. Are you wanting to get a bachelor’s in economics and eventually get an MBA from Broad? Or are you starting as an economics major and want to know about getting into Broad for your undergrad?
If you were wondering about the Broad MBA, they like to see a few years of work experience first, so your major matters in the sense that it will impact what jobs you can get out of undergrad before you apply to the MBA program.
For the Broad undergraduate program the only thing that really matters is your overall GPA and your precore GPA. They just moved to a freshman admissions model (I just graduated and it was a junior admissions model when I applied) where I believe your precore GPA is based on your grades in CSE, Math 124(?) and WRA (could be wrong about those), and if you are accepted into Broad each department has their own class/GPA criteria for their majors that you have to reach as a sophomore in order to get into your program of choice.
