business summer programs

hey guys,

i'm a sophomore and i want to go to to a program involving business this summer. I've heard about LEAD and LBW but those are just for juniors and seniors, i believe...

can anyone give me any suggestsions for any business program for sophmores like me? Business actually interests me and I want to learn more. I don't actually know that much about business.

thanks....

you can consider yourself a junior once sophomore year ends and summer vacation begins

yeah, but i saw the application and it asks for psat scores and sat scores and all that...

any advice on where to go this summer for business related programs?

smoothflow, can you provide links to the LEAD and LBW programs? Thanks.

Have you seen this?

http://www.bentley.edu/camp/wallst.cfm

hey man

just check the upenn site.

lead : http://www.leadnational.org/

LBW: http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/academics/summer/

by the way, did you register for that program? that program looks interesting but it doesn't seem as nice as Lead and Lbw.

I don't actually have a foundation of knowledge for business so is it okay if I start my knowledge in either of these summer programs?

The programs you mentioned are at a much higher level than the one I mentioned.

Lead and LBW both look like great programs.

thanks for the quick reply.

yeah, i really like how interesting the courses seem but i was wondering when i could take it. im a sophomore this term so am i qualified to take any of these programs this term?

do you know any other business summer programs?

thanks

I haven't seen anything that looks as interesting as the programs you came up with.

Definitely look into those programs. Why don't you contact somebody at those programs if you have any questions?

Good luck.

If you have any luck finding someone on the forum who has attended LEAD, will you let me know? I posted earlier about it but with little success, and I applied for it but wanted to know more about it before I commit (If I even get accepted)

LEAD is so frickin' cheap compared to other summer programs I have been researching. Furthermore, the PSAT/SAT requirement is only 100 or 1,000(M+V) combined. Is that a joke???:) I simply don't even understand why they would have standardized testing requirements if their standards are so low. My hunch is that LEAD is designed to target minorities who are interested in business and entrepreneurship maybe. Is there something I'm missing here LEAD alumni?

LEAD is incredibly cheap, but it's offered on so many prestigious campuses. Looking at the schedule though it seems as if it's more 'listen to these people tell you what to do' instead of actual hands-on activities. Still wondering if it's worth it....

(are there seriously no LEAD alumni on cc?!)

LEAD sounds too good to be true...free airfare and dorms. WOWZA!!!:)

free airfare? what? I swear they said we had to provide our own transportation...

Q: What is the cost?
$750 per student plus the cost of travel.

Isn't that amazing kchen?:p

LEAD program is directed toward African Americans because it is designed for URMs....

I'm interested in LBW but I think I have to wait a little.

Anybody have any other ideas?

What's URM? Why do you say it's directed toward African Americans?

URM = underrepresented minority.

Includes African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, etc.

Yes, I still think that this program is worth the experience. $750 for three weeks + different workshops + room & board = amazing.

I applied to LEAD this year, hopefully Ill get in!
