I ended up buying a new Macbook Pro! hope this will work out with computer engineering!
anyone agree?

You should only buy a Macbook if you’re too n00bie to use anything else => you shouldn’t be majoring in anything computer related.

@HarryJones
you make me feel regretful for getting a mac over pc! :(

Whoever said Ubuntu is not a stupid person.

im not so sure about ubuntu, can macs bootcamp with ubuntu?
ubuntu seems like a scam, probably not wise for a freshmen at college to use such unpopular OS.

Lawl, how?

What are you going to major in?

If you’re majoring in some sort of engineering, you may need a Windows-based PC for the Windows-only software you will use (Solidworks, etc).

If you’re doing something like broadcast production or art-related fields, you may need the Mac OS to run the preferred video-editing software and such.

Other than that, it’s really up to personal preference. My personal preference is the Windows PC, mostly because quite a few things I use run only on Windows, but there’s nothing I use that specifically needs Mac’s OS that would justify the added cost.

Ubuntu a scam? It’s free, and you can customize it.

Apple makes a profit of ~$350 per computer, while a company like HP makes a profit of ~$50 per computer*. Mac OS is based on Unix (which is free) just like Ubuntu, except Mac OS isn’t free, and can’t be customized to the extent that Ubuntu can.

Now which is more like a scam, Mac OS or Ubuntu?

Lawl, not what I’d consider a reliable source.
