Anyone have any previous experience with buying refurbished Macbooks from Apple? The new 2011 15-inch model costs $1800 (over $1900 after tax), but the refurbished 2010 model only costs about $1500. I think most of the hardware specs are similar as well, except for the core processor. The refurbished one has an i5 core while the new 2011 has an i7 Quad core. However, I think the i5 will be more than enough for what I need, making the i7 a waste of money anyways. What do you think? Is buying a refurbished Macbook Pro from Apple safe?

Oh yeah, I’ve bought a MB, ipod, and ipad refurbished from apple and EVERY one of them looked brand new when i opened the box. They do an unbelievable job of reassessing their products for resale and I would highly recommend buying refurb anyway. I’ve only heard good things from others too so its not just me.

We have a used Macbook for my S for 6 months now and absolutely no problems.

Bought refurbished MB for DD several years ago. No probs, unlike the laptop I bought new from Dell.

I highly recommend refurbished Apple products. I have a refurbished MacBook Pro and it looks brand new and works great. Refurbished is a really good way to save some money!
