Since we don't find out what classes we are in until orientation, will we still have time to find used / cheap text books online before classes start, or will we all have to buy the new expensive ones at the campus bookstore?

See if you can get in touch with the registrar who might be able to tell you what you're in so far so you can call the bookstore and see what texts are required for those classes.

Last year my son found out his classes two/three weeks before orientation - class schedules were posted on the Colgate website. He had time to order used and new books from the Colgate bookstore online - when he arrived on campus he stopped by the bookstore and picked up a box of all his books (very convenient). The Colgate bookstore does sell used books - students' books from previous semesters.

i think im going to go w/ amazon.com for books... good idea?

Thankfully you're a freshman so you don't have to worry about dragging that big box down the hill!

It's really up to you but there's nothing like waiting in the line with your new friends to pick up your books at the bookstore! :) It's so much fun to see what other people are reading for their new classes.

I've discovered that I really don't save all that much shrugs as it seems like my profs lately assigned books that were fairly new.
