They'll charge you during the week of Sept. 17th

can I refund tho

You can return any book by October 3

Do we always have to buy the latest edition, or will a previous one suffice?

Again, I just wanna emphasize-- only use the UCD textbook reservation if you're willing to pay an exorbitant amount of money...

yea i really wanna pay the least i can...i'm trying to do everything I can to get cheap books.

You could also try the ASUCD book exchange.

is it possible i can use my ucd address so that my books i ordered online can be shipped there instead of my home address?

hey everyone, are you guys sure that the prices from half.com and amazon.com are cheaper then the ones from the davis book store cause I checked most of my books and they all cost maybe 5-10 dollars less max for the primary and most expensive books and the rest are more or less equally priced.

try campusi.com and bookfinder.com, they are metasearch engines that search other websites. most of the cheap books are paperback international editions though, don't know if you care. also, one possibility is that the cheaper books have already been sold, we do start pretty late.

yea thanks man I tried campusi.com last night it's an incredible price difference they give you the best prices by making comparisons with many stores and like they also take in to account many coupons and stuff so ya it's really good thanks.

"most of the cheap books are paperback international editions though"

is it ok to get these editions? i have heard that they are basically identical to the us editions...is that true?

also even though we havent moved in is it alright to use our davis address when buying books online?

They are identical to the US editions, just paperback with black and white pages.

Seeing as how move-in is this weekend and it takes about a week to ship, I don't see why not.

I have some questions about paying and financial aid. Is it automatically deducted if you have financial aid? Or do you have to do something? When I checked my bill, my financial aid was deducted from my total, but I never did anything...

Also, what is Direct Deposit exactly? Is it where ALL of the financial aid is deposited to one's bank account? If this occurs, do we have to manually do something? (so it's not automatic like now w/o the direct deposit option???...meaning we'd have to write a check, etc.)

Seems like you answered your own question... FinAid is automatically disbursed a few days before the deadline.

If you have left over money after paying the fees, you can pick up a check at the cashier's office or you can sign up direct deposit and have them deposit it to your account.

Monday, September 17: Fall Quarter financial aid disbursed to student accounts to pay fees and other University charges.

Friday, September 21: Fall Quarter financial aid remainder amounts available through Direct Deposit.

Monday, September 24: For students not signed up for Direct Deposit, Fall Quarter financial aid remainder checks available at Student Accounting, 2100 Dutton Hall.

When I am buying the textbooks off from online, can I ship them to my dorm? Is it okay to write the address of my room in Davis into the shipping address? Are there anything I should know about? Thnx!

You can put the Area Service Desks' address found on pg33 of http://www.housing.ucdavis.edu/PDF/2007%20Guide%20To%20ResLife.pdf

For the Area Service Desks' address, what's "J---- DOE"? is that like name of the people at desks or do i have to change that to my name? how do they know which mails are for me and stuff?
