I have a couple of questions about BYU Independent Study courses.

1) Can you enroll in these classes without your school finding out? Of course, I just want to take it to learn and I don't care about getting credits. I don't want to go through all the trouble of getting my school to fill out forms and contact, etc etc, if I don't even want it to count for anything.

2) Is it possible to finish an entire BYU course over the summer? I could spend 3 hours or maybe even more a day, if necessary, on a course.

Thanks!

Yes, it is possible. I registered thinking I wouldn’t be able to take the class during school but was able to, meant to pull out it but haven’t, and my school still has no idea what so ever.

Most likely. I don’t see why not. I’m taking a few online summer courses that would normally take a full year. If you spend 3 or so hours a day on it, it would make sense you’d be able to finish.

Thanks so much, musicallylatin, reading your post instantly brightened my day. :]

One thing though, how do you show colleges your BYU independent study courses? Can you request a transcript?

You probably should be able to. I think I read something like that on the FAQ page. Ok, I just re-read and didn’t see anything. OH! Here you go…[BYU Independent Study - Distance Education Courses - Online Learning](http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/students/index.cfm) Some where down on there it says “Request Transcript”, so yep, I guess you can!
