C+ in Physics

I think I will be getting a C+ in Physics this term, and am applying ED to Bryn Mawr. How much will it hurt my chances? The school I go to accompanies the transcript with a letter explaining that it is a tough course and stating the other students grades (not good). So do I still have a chance? My other grades are B’s, with an occasional A. I’m taking three AP’s. Please help!!!

hey i think that it is always better to challenge your self, and colleges will see that it is an advanced course. also ap courses look really good on your transcript, i took 1 last year and am taking 2 this year.

Hmmm, you don't think they'll see it as a "red flag" that I may not be cut out for Bryn Mawr? Also, is a B average good enough for Bryn Mawr? With a 1290 SAT (700 v 590 m)? I'm so nervous!
Thanks for responding! :)

Yea I hope they don't use that as a cut-off, I think i might apply winter early descision, but im worried i wont get enough money to go there IF i get accepted. i think if my sats didnt go up significantly this time i will have less of a chance of getting in, despite an A average in advanced courses, and top 10% of my class status. good luck.

I wouldn't stress, all my math grades were C+ well, almost.

Physics isn't your strongest point, so what? As long as you don't plan to major in it (or math or something) you should be fine :).

Plus you might luck out and have them accept you before your mid-year report. I doubt they would cancel your admission because of one C+.

I don't think your SAT will hurt you, Bright Eyes, given the fact that 25% of Bryn Mawr's freshman class scored below 1200 on the SAT. That puts your score somewhere in the middle 50%. However, your B average might not be seen as terribly impressive. I really don't know. If your essays, recs, and ECs are exceptional, they might over ride your less than stellar GPA . Don't give up! Impress them with your knowledge of the school and its faculty, its history and traditions. Let them know that Bryn Mawr is your hands down first choice, and that your ED application is dead serious. You know what they say about a bird in the hand...

I just found out I'm actually getting a B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! I'm still soooooo scared I'm going to get deferred....my test scores are almost decent (700 v. 590 m), but my gpa is TERRIBLE (3.27). Meh. :(

Heh, I'm exactly like you. My test scores are pretty good, but my gpa is awful.

I'm the exact opposite. I have a great average, but my test scores aren't so hot. That's okay though cuz today i picked up Princeton Review Sat 2004 book, and sat math workout, and I'm going to study for (hopefully) an hour each day, so i hope my scores will go up---i haven't studied at all thus far.
