So in this upper division electronics class, the professor grades on a perfectly Gaussian curve and I didn't do so hot. His teaching style was horrible and the book (Sedra and Smith's Mcroelectronic Circuits) was horrible for learning new material. My GPA before this was a 3.3 and I have intentions of getting a master's but this probably just killed my chances at getting into a reputable grad school. I have a couple questions:

1) Should I retake the class next year and put off applying to grad schools in a year?
2) Is graduating in 5 years and retaking classes for a better GPA frowned upon for graduate school?

no

no

And don’t blame your poor grade on the textbook or his teaching style. The real world doesn’t work that way.

I know I shouldn’t make excuses but I really bombed the final and that one test killed my chances of getting into a reputable master’s program after graduation.

I’m using that book for my class right now too and I think its fine. You just need to have basic circuit analysis skills.

I just couldn’t earn from it and we covered 2/3 of it in a quarter. I did great in my lower division circuit classes and have a good understanding. I bought Razavi’s Fundamentals of Microelectronics and it is leagues above Sedra’s in terms of example problems and simplicity in analysis.

That’s pretty fast in like 2 months we’ve only gotten up to chapter 4 in my class.
