c/o 2014 Gates Millenium Finalists and Scholars

@ScubaMom9026 Thank you!!

Hey everyone! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to meet you all!!! :D

The Lord has answered my prayers today with the letter I received in the mail today, even though I did not receive the scholarship. I prayed that the right people - the people who truly deserved the Gates-Millennium Scholarship - would get it. Though, to me, this is not the greatest news to hear, I do not beleive that the committee made a mistake in their selection. There were 1,900 finalists, and 900 of us, even if we were outstanding and eligible with our forms turned in on time, will have to find a different approach to paying for college. To my fellow finalists who did not advance, I promise there will be a way for us, and to the scholars, congratulations. GMS or not, your dreams are still able to be fulfilled.

You are a remarkable, considerate, and kind individual. What a wonderful heart you have. I like your style and you are indeed a WINNER in my mind!

@Ndukwe132‌ Your words are encouraging! and I love your motivation, keep the fire burning and you will be successful wherever you end up!

@Sinaj‌ and @SwatBoy‌ Thank you so much!

@Ndukwe132 I love your spirit! I pray God blesses you for genuinely being happy for others. It takes a very strong person that truly loves God to have your attitude. Be blessed, even though it’s evident that you already are. :D

A 2014 Gates Millennium Scholar here, from Kennesaw, Georgia ^.^! I got my letter after an awesome trip to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It almost made me change my major to biology, but nah, Engineering is more my thing xD.

@MarkieSG Congratulations again!!!

Hi all! I know that GMS covers grad school in specifics fields like engineering (my intended field) but does GMS cover med-school?

Nvm found my answer.

@EG2014 Sorry for the late response. No, it doesn’t. :frowning: I wish it did though.

I am blessed to be a 2014 Gates Scholar from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. @Ndukwe132 the same thing happened to my best friend. we were both finalists but she didn’t advance. Keep up the spirit. Your dreams are valid. @rhythmandbible that kinda sucks! i will probably change my career goal.

Don’t change your goal. If God has placed it in your heart, hold on to it. He’ll show you how to cover it. :smiley:

Happy Easter everyone!!! :smiley:

@rythmandbible I’m from Michigan and will be attending Howard University in the Fall. Any other future Bison’s?

@dunnis, I have seen any on here yet, but I have a friend (or a few) attending next year. :smiley:
