CAL POLY SLO ? or UCSB,UCD,UCSD,UCI ?

My Son Already Accepted in CAL Poly SLO.
But he doesn't decided yet which Univ he has to choose
If he accepted in UCSD,UCSB,UCD,UCI.... which univ he has to choose ?
major is not decided yet.

His STAT

UW GPA : 3.93
W GPA : 4.18
ACT : 26

Cal Poly is a great school for certain majors. If someone doesn’t know the major they want, that would make me lean towards a UC which should have more great options, including research opportunities, in case that becomes of interest. Of those you name, I personally like UCSB and UCD best, but I would have to know a lot more about what your son likes in a living arrangement to make a recommendation.

CalPoly SLO is great for engineering. Would be easier if he knows what he will be majoring in.

My son’s major in Cal Poly slo is Mathematics. How about mathematics in cal poly ?

As a math major, is it fair to assume he plans to go on to grad school? If so, I’d give UCSD or UCD the nod.

Cal Poly SLO’s career survey indicates that many of the math majors head toward teaching credential programs after graduation, although some do go on to PhD study in math. Depending on the student’s career goal, he may find more like-minded students at some schools compared to others.

He can also compare math course offerings at each school to see which fits his interest better.

Cal Poly is a great school. I think it even be more distinguished than UCI. Math is a major at every school. Since Cal Poly is a polytechnic, I would expect that they have superb STEM programs. I recently visited UCSB and was blown away by their facilities. I would encourage him to check that out as well if he gets in. Good luck.
