Cal Poly SLO vs. CSU Fullerton

Hi! This is my first post on here, and I just really need some help deciding. It's between Cal Poly SLO and CSU Fullerton. Cal poly is a great school and they have several majors I'm interested in, but it's hard to switch majors (I'm still largely undecided, I just picked a major that sounded interesting). It's in a good location, good town, and near the beach, but it's sort of isolated and the food sucks. (Dining plan wise, or at least that's what I've heard). I know it has a great reputation, but it's also $24k a year. The major I currently have is Graphic Communications, and they told me that the program is ranked #2 in the nation, plus I have friends that will go there next year and some want to do an intermural soccer team with me. Also, I went to Cal Poly's open house a couple days ago, and I got really excited about going there. I was literally about a day away from accepting Cal Poly, but then Fullerton decided to offer me almost a full-ride, through the President's Scholarship program. They pay for everything except housing, give me an on-campus job, a computer for 4 years, it's near Disneyland and Disney's various headquarters, (normally not relevant, but since I want to be a Disney Imagineer it is), and it's more than just a scholarship. It's also a program that mentors me, helps me with my major, I get guaranteed classes etc. They have connections with Disney, the people are willing to help me every step of the way, and I would be extremely involved in the school. (They require volunteering and events). Also, the president of the program would give me a recommendation letter for anything. However, it doesn't have as many majors that I'm interested in, and it isn't as great of a school. This just sucks because I loved the campus life of cal poly, and I'm worried about Fullerton being a commuter school, but I like the other benefits of Fullerton more (more things to do, money, other stuff). The majors I'm interested in at Cal Poly are Construction Management, Arch/Land Architecture, and of course my current major. Fullerton's majors would be less helpful for Imagineering and the Themed Entertainment Industry, but when I was interviewed for the scholarship they said that they could help me construct a major if needed. I'm so stuck right now it's unbelievable, and if anyone could possibly offer me some advice, I'd really appreciate it, since I have to decide by Wednesday. Thank you!

Sounds like Fullerton really wants you so that should help you decide. Fullerton is a beautiful campus, we toured SLO last year and didn’t really care for the vibe there.

You sound like you are very good student with good stats. I don’t think you will have a problem changing you major at CalPoly as long as you keep your grades up while you are there.

I disagree with the above poster.
Depending on your major, it is uniformly difficult to transfer between majors at Cal Poly.
It would be almost impossible for you to transfer into the SLO Arch/Land Arch program, as those highly selective, portfolio-based admission which are tough enough to secure as a Freshman, and even harder as an internal transfer.

I love SLO, but I would encourage you not to underestimate the power of connections in your intended field.
