where to and why?
which one has more prestige?

Aren't you supposed to have chosen already?

lol sent SIR to both... :P

UCI bio is fierce. many Asians, fierce curves, but they have been focusing for years on escalating the intensity of the program to make it top notch. You are in OC and can live at Newport Beach.

I do not know about SLOs bio, but it is more isolated, more college town, not a UC, but still well-respected.

While UCI is more than 50% Asian, Bio is extremely Asian....not nesc a bad thing, just a fact of life.

so which do you recommend?

somemom pretty much summed it up. both schools will be tough as SLO is the best Cal state and UCI is a UC (toughness level). UCI is a commuter school while SLO is a pretty nice college town (so ive been told). UCI has a very strong bio program and plenty of opportunities, but im pretty sure SLO will too. I don't know too much about each campus but the best way to make ur choice is to visit each campus.

I'm at UCI (albeit not next year) and I think just on the basis of prestige, UCI wins out, as it's reputed to have a solid Bio program. As for it's difficulty...that depends. Personally, I didn't find the weeder classes difficult at all, but that's purely subjective.

I think there is no huge difference between the two, you should visit and choose the one where you "fit" where you are more comfortable, where you can picture yourself doing well.

As to the UCI bio curves, it all depends on the luck of the draw and the instructor. OChem is gonna be tough at any uni
