Helloo. I am currently high school senior in Los Angeles. I got admitted to Cal State Fullerton and I am really considering going there. But I have some questions that maybe you can answer. I want to go into Business so I am going to get a Business major. I read that they have a good business program. I read about the Entertainment and Tourism business program. That sounds kool, what do you think? do you know anything about that?

Also, I got accepted into UC Riverside and I am trying to decide if I should go there or CSF? B/c UCR has a good business program too. Also, do you think it would be best to stay 2 years at CSF and then transfer to a UC like ucla or Irvine or somewhere? Is that a good idea or should I just do that for my mba? Im not sure how that exactly works. Is an mba necessary? Also, what classes should I take my freshmen year, should I get all my general classes out of the way? Do I take the General classes only my 1st year or do I take my classes that relate to my major as well? When do I take those major related classes? Finally, what about the housing?. I applied for housing ecently but idk if I will get in. What do people usually do if they dont get a housing place on campus and they live far away? Apartments? Are they cheap? As you can see I have A LOT of questions, haha,Please Respond if you have any answers for me
..or any advice that you wish you knew when you were a freshmen. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

I would always choose UC over CSU unless you are talking about one of the Cal Poly schools. The UC system is being hit hard economically but sadly CSU is getting hit harder.

During your first year, I assume that you will have some sort of orientation. During orientation there will be help for you in selecting your classes from counselors or from some sort of peer counselor.

If you don’t get into on campus housing, there are usually posts or listings from students looking for roommates on campus, or maybe even on websites like craigslist.

The choice between UCR or CSUF should come down to fit and cost. Obviously Cal State will be cheaper, but some UCs give decent financial aid that make the cost of a uc cheaper than a cal state or the equivalent of a cal state. Have you visited each campus? Which do you like, and where do you see yourself living. I have a feeling-I may be wrong though, that UCR is less of a commuter campus than CSUF. If you seek a stronger on campus life or social life UCR may be able to provide that.

Lastly, transferring into popular majors like Business at top UCs is extremely competitive. The easiest route is through community college, but even at that you have to achieve a high gpa to be competitive. You’ll still have to have a high gpa if you seek to transfer after two years from a lower uc or a cal state.

Have you visited both schools? Have you had appts with the dept heads of the business programs at both schools?

What about the social side? Which school meets your social needs?

CSUF is one of the top Cal States, so it shouldn’t be easily dismissed just because it’s not a UC…especially since UCR is considered a lower tier UC.

However, it really gets down to what you’ll like. Fullerton has better weather. Riverside can have pretty hot/yucky weather.

Should i get my undergrad degree at CSF and then my mba at a UC?
