@fyascience Congrats! I got accepted to UCSC so I already said to heck with CSUF lol!
@fyascience UCSB B-) congrats to you! Go 4 it, CSUF pales in comparison, IMO.
So, I ran a degree audit yesterday from the CSUF site. Only 1 of my 5 transcripts have been completed with 39/40 units transferred at 4.0. I have a feeling that when somebody saw my 4 other transcripts from colleges dating back from 1983 - 1991, they went “Oh, hell NO!!!” It’s a lot of work, apparently, looking back that far to see if courses that may not even exist anymore transfer by having to read the old course descriptions from the old college catalogs those years (if they can find them) to attempt a comparison. :-??
@pizzalover10 CONGRATULATIONS!!!
@TooOld4College Interesting, I should do that… lol it’s their job to workout the transcripts for you, someone literally gets paid good money 8 hours a day to do this stuff, I don’t think they would neglect your other 4 transcripts. Ya know?
@CSUADTHopeful Thanks, I would hope not. Let us know how your degree audit turns out.
@Starkiller Yeah because if i go through the class i might fail or get a D. Would it just be better to get a “W” and drop the class. Then do it later at fullerton or in the summer? I swear I thought you were not allowed to take classes during the summer well you are allowed but its pointless because it wont count.
Can I take University classes if I do not get accepted anywhere? or do not get accepted at the school I want to go to due to missing a general education class
@gencheezzy Yes, at least that’s what my counselor told me. It is far better to have a W on your transcript than a D which will lower your GPA.
The person at CSUF who I have been talking to gave me a VERY clear response about out of area students. You have to have above 3.4 (full college career) to be considered, 3.29 will be waitlisted and below will be declined. Since my son started off with mostly C’s and B’s, even though he has been 3.8 and above for the last 3 semesters he’s not going to make it. He’s OK with that, he wasn’t even that sold on CSUF he just wanted an answer
and probably not by coincidence, the denial just came via email
@homemadehitshow did your son find out today? And is he a freshman or transfer?
Actually nevermind lol I can tell he’s a transfer @homemadehitshow but do you know if those GPAs include a boost for having an AA ?
Well he is an AA, his GPA is probably about 3.20 and they denied him.
I was just reading Cal State Fullerton’s Registration Deadlines. It reads to me that they have different acceptance dates for first-time freshman and transfers.
For first-time freshman, it reads “Accepting Admission and Enrollment Deposit. (Applicants admitted after April 15th have two weeks from the date of admission, printed on the admit letter, to accept their admission offer.)”
For transfers, it reads “Accepting Admission and Enrollment Deposit. (Applicants admitted after May 15th have two weeks from the date of admission, printed on the admit letter, to accept their admission offer.)”
So from this, I’m assuming that CSUF A&R may not send out acceptance/denial letters to transfers possibly until late May. This makes decision making tough since Cal Poly Pomona has a decision deadline for both freshman and transfers by May 1. I suppose that only matters if I was accepted to Poly, but that hasn’t happened… yet. Maybe that means I’ll get some kind of notice from CPP either today or next week. But it also means I may be waiting much longer for CSUF’s decision… :!!
@homemadehitshow I’m sorry your son got the denial. It definitely seemed to happen right after you spoke with the CSUF rep. I read for another post of yours that CSU Channel Islands was an option. Did he apply there or another other colleges? If so, was he accepted/denied yet?
I’m a transfer as well, with an AA (no ADT), a 3.0 cum GPA (4.0 last 40 units and major prep), but I am a local and still haven’t heard from them yet. I didn’t realize locals had that much advantage.
@homemadehitshow What is your son’s major? I feel like they should accept based on spaces available per department right? Or should I just lose hope now because I am out of the area with a 3.0 GPA…
My daughter is going to Channel Islands. My son is accepted at Chico, Channel Islands, Monterrey and San Jose State so he will be fine. His major is communications. They did not state that the guidelines were specifically for communications. Ultimately he wasn’t too worried about going there so we aren’t going to pursue it.
@homemadehitshow That’s fair, congrats on all his other acceptances!!
@TooOld4College I ran the audit and everything looks good for transfer wait waiting on my IP classes, but they do require a couple other GE classes I’m assuming for when I get there if accepted… not excited for that. I also need to contact the school still and make them aware that I attended another Community College in San Diego this year from March-April and just got my final grade back so I’m sure I have to send that in ASAP
