My D auditioned in Chicago. Still no word yet today!

Chicago auditions must be last in the process. Sigh.

Hi all! I have been watching this board for weeks but haven’t signed in until today. I am so glad you got in milky!

I auditioned thru URTA on feb 8 in SF for the mfa program. I don’t know if anyone else here is looking at the mfa program but I’ve heard no word yet!

I auditioned with mirjana and Rafael and they said I’m “exactly calarts”. They had me take their cards, fill out an application, apply for aid and asked me to visit. I have set an appt to do so march 18. However, I’m really hoping I know my status before then!

I have to say it would be heartbreaking to find out if I got rejected and then do a visit!

Anyone else here going for the MFA acting?

Hello everyone, I’ve been quietly lurking this board the past few days to see if anyone has been accepted before others. I applied to the Film and Video major and I’m very anxious as to the result of my application. I can see that most of you are actors, which is great, because I’m an amateur director. I’ve wanted to attend film school since I was a little boy growing up in Brazil, so this month has been filled with high levels if stress for me.

Thank you Sarahsneak! Getting a card directly from Mirjana is a very good sign for MFAs (As getting a card directly from Nataki is a good sign for BFAs). Good luck to you, keep us posted! :)

Fankini - Eu sou brasileira tamb

If I attend CalArts, I’ll have you to talk to in Portuguese! Haha

Really? I hope so! She was the one who saw me because Rafael was busy and couldn’t see my audition. I’m surprised that the head of the mfa program liked me! I’ve been pestering them though with emails “updating” them on my status of application and all that. honestly I’m about to plotz waiting this long.

Haha

Are you for sure going to Calarts milky?

That’s what I’ve heard…when I auditioned there was a girl from the MFA program that told me she had auditioned for Nataki in NYC and then asked to audition for Mirjana again on campus. I guess is the head of the program that makes most of the decisions, so if you have direct contact with them, it’s a good thing.

Yes, I am it’s my dream school and I loved the campus and the class I watched.

Sarah, I’m in the same boat as you! I’ve been lurking on this board for ages, but I suppose it’s time I finally came out of the woodwork I am hoping to attend Calarts for the MFA in Acting. I auditioned in Chicago in early February and like many others, I received their cards, did the breathing exercises, etc. I hope that hasn’t given me false hope! I check the website everyday but there’s been no update on my status. I guess they’ve waited to notify MFA applicants after they’re through with BFA students, because I’ve heard nothing about any MFA students being notified yet.

Oh and I auditioned in front of Mirjana, Rafael, and Nataki, jsyk.

I figured that much with mfa people too. Its killing me though! I didn’t see nataki and didn’t get the breathing exercises. Idk what that means. I hope I’m okay!
And I hope you get in stage left!

Congratulations Milkshakespeare and Pintiness S! I am so excited for everyone… I do think you get in where you are intended to go… with such competition for so few spots the auditors must have a time at selecting just the right group to be together…

For those of you who did not get in, please keep us posted of where you land. The RIGHT opportunity will present itself.

As I mentioned last weekend, my daughter was accepted and also auditioned with Nataki in Chicago.

She had been rejected by Chapman, DePaul and SMU. So her spirits were pretty low.

She has yet to hear from Emerson, Northwestern, American Academy of Dramatic Art or The New School… But at this point does it matter? CalArts is Huge.

I just read a quote that said “Being accepted to CalArts and declining would be like winning the lottery and saying NO THANKS!” HOW TRUE!

Now I just have to figure out how to PAY for this GREAT opportunity! Yikes! But whatever it takes.

Very true! I think CalArtians have a very specific mindset and it’s not a school for everyone. As I would feel caged in a program like Rutgers’, I believe not everyone would thrive in a program like CalArts.

AFFM: I forgot you said your daughter auditioned in Chicago! It is a crazy system how they take weeks in between these acceptances and rejections. I know of a few people who auditioned in Chicago, NYC and a few in California. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to when the rejections and acceptances have come out. Some of both for the last two weeks. Ah well, the waiting continues! At least this week, my S got the good news that he was accepted to Marymount Manhattan which he has visited twice and is totally ok with going to if that’s where he ends up being!

If any of the BFAs or MFAs that plan to attend CalArts want to connect with me, please send me a PM!

I’m feeling it MFA people- this week is our week!

Threed: Yes, please PM me.

milkshakespeare: I would love to keep in touch. Or get you and my daughter in touch with one another… BUT I am fairly new here and unable to PM as yet. I will try to post my required “15” soon!

Haha ok! I’ll wait!

Milky you should be able to PM her…
