Calc AB vs. BC?

Is AB a prerequisite to BC? Or are they different classes?

My school only offers AB. Would I be at a disadvantage if I only take that? (to apply to MIT?)

Or should I try dual enrollment at the local college? Which classes there would be the equivalent to take the AP test?

I'm a junior in Precalc - the highest class a junior is allowed to take at my school... :/

AB is not a prerequisite, however some schools make it that way (BC in those schools starts off where AB stops). Other schools teach it as a separate class. If you take AB, you can self study BC if you want. If it is the highest course offered available at your school, then it won’t affect admissions. Calculus II at a community college is usually equivalent to BC.

Oh, okay! Thank you!
I’ll try to self study, I guess.

Yeah it wont affect anything in terms of AB being on your transcript instead of BC but it would look good to take the BC AP exam. its not all that much more to self study

you can self-study bc while taking ab and take the bc exam instead of the ab exam in may. that is what i am planning on doing. Taking 13 AP tests all for the credits.

Zealous- to what end?
