I currently have a TI 83+ and know it like the back of my hand, but was thinking of getting a new one over the summer for MVC. I know the TI 89 titanium is supposed to be really good. Will it hold me over through college? How easy are they to use compared to 83+? What are comparable calculators of different brands and how do they stack up price/ability wise?

Thanks a bunch

89's own with symbolic manipulation!

It will definitely be nice if your teacher lets you use it. Not sure if it'll last you through college.. don't see why not (can't really do analysis on calculators)

When I said "last throughout college" I didn't mean like will it wear out I mean does it have all the capabilities I will need in a calculator throughout college?

Also, how easy is it to program straight onto the Ti 89 compared with the 83+? I really got into the habit of making programs for every concept it would help with.

Thanks again

I know what you meant.. and my comment was that you can't do analysis on calculators -- when you get to a certain level of mathematics its more theoretical than computational. By this I meant that it probably will last you, sorry for the messed up working

Not sure about the programming.

ahh ok thanks! Any comments on comparable brands?

I would suggest your do it without any calc. You should know uour basic functions good enought not to need a calc.
