Calculator?

Sorry, I have no idea where to post this.

My daughter will be taking her first accounting course. Does that mean she’ll need her graphing calculator?

If not, her sister can use it for Trig and I can save $100.

Is this college accounting? I would really think not. Perhaps a financial calculator. Look on the syllabus to see.

You don’t need a graphing calculator for accounting. For 100 level, probably all you’ll need is addition and subtraction. If she is going to stick with it and do finance as well, she’ll need a financial calculator that can do present and future value calculations. The gold standard is the old HP12C. I use the app on my phone these days.

My daughter did high school honors accounting 1 and 2 dual enrollment accounting principles 1 and 2 (before intermediate accounting). She had her ti84plus calculator but said she used a basic calculator on her phone if needed so I think you would be fine to start.

She’s a marketing major, so Accounting 100 is one of her required courses.

OK, so I got her a basic $5 calculator and will leave the Graphing Calc home for her sister. If she needs one, she can either hit the campus bookstore or amazon prime.

Thanks!

My daughter as an accounting major but is holding off on a business calculator until she finds out what she needs. She won’t need one this semester since she is just taking intro to business. She took principles of marketing through dual enrollment and really enjoyed it. Will your daughter be taking a math class?

Not this semester. So I’m going to hold off.

Worst case scenario she gets one at school.
