My CASIO graphing calculator is beginning to give out, so I know I'll have to buy a new one before heading off to college. Can I stick with CASIO, or is there a specific brand of calculator that is preferred on campus? Also, I heard that many of the Calculus classes at WashU bar the students from using graphing calculators during class or on tests. Is this true? Is it class-specific? Based on professor-preference? I know I'll have to take quite a few Calculus and other math classes for an engineering major, and I'd really like to know.

for calc 3 last semester we were only allowed to use a scientific calculator (I believe that the calc 1 and 2 kids weren't even allowed to use a calculator)

also, for chem, you have a choice between 4 (I think?, could be 6 or something like that) scientific calculators.

Then in other classes you will need a graphing calculator, so I guess the answer varies by class.
