log tables =)

 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

lets bring back slide rules and abacuses while we're at it. :P

i got a ti-89 half way through my junior year of HS, id have to say it probably increased my grade about 10 percent for the second half of the year. It really is not that hard to use, just play with it for a couple hours and you'll be good to go...plus, it does INTEGRALS...i mean come ON, whats not to love about that?

no, you'd need at least a scientific calculator to do logs.

Yes, that's true, along with trigonometric calculations. You got me there. Or you could always go back to slide rules, log and trig tables, and whatever else they used in the precalculator days. :)

I have an abacus, and one of my math books has trigonometric tables in the back. However, my current abacus isn't very good (it's a cheap plastic one), so I plan on building a wooden one someday. I'd also like to buy a slide rule....

Slightly off-topic: Have any of you ever used hyperbolic paper? How does that work exactly? Any of you used logarithmic paper?
