I’m in AP calculus AB currently, and it is a living hell. The thing is, all throughout Honors Algebra II and Pre-calc, I earned A’s on all the tests (I had the same teacher for both classes). This year, I have a C in calculus, and have resorted to hiring a tutor to help me with the course because it is very difficult for me. The teacher is “excellent”, every year he teaches that class, every single one of his students got a 5 on the AP exam, with one or two that got 4’s. But I just don’t really understand it with him because he goes so fast, and has a crazy temper. Ironically he was also my Honors Geometry teacher my freshman year, the only class I ever got a B in. And this year, I have him again and I’m getting a C. yay.

@doublerainbow99 I hope you do well.

I am starting calculus 2 after break, and honestly, calculus 1 (ab) was wayyy easier than precalc for me. just memorize the table of derivatives

Differential calculus I thought was pretty straightforward, Integrals were more tricky.

Took AP Calc BC as a sophomore.
We never had hw, and I never paid attention in class.
The most I did was skim the chapter the days before tests.
It was really easy: got a 5 on the AP and 99% in the class.

I’m a junior and I’m taking AP Calculus BC. It’s hard to grasp the concepts when your teacher isn’t that great at explaining, but I’m doing okay-ish in there. Honors Pre-calc was definitely easier for me though and without the preparation my teacher did last year, I’m pretty sure I’d be failing right now. I consider myself lucky to be in Calculus; I’m not naturally smart at math. I actually have to work at it, so…yeah. I’d be stoked if I got a B this quarter, but maybe that’s just me.

Took BC last year; pretty challenging but I attribute that to the fact that I slept most of the time and never did hw. I also didn’t do anything mathematically challenging the year before calc (ap stats) so it took a while to adjust to actually using my head. Still managed A- and a 5 on the exam.

From what I’ve gotten out of calculus so far (haven’t gotten into integral), pre-cal is not key prevalent in calculus AB. Other than something here and there, there’s not much from pre-cal.
