Calculus or Stat for pre-med math reqs?

I just graduated from hs after completing AP Calc AB - barely averaging over an 80 for both semesters, I've always been careless with number mistakes when it comes to math despite my 'street'/arithmetic math being top notch). For the AP exam, I probably got a 3 or lower (scores should be in soon). With my math being this weak, should I retake Calculus I again next yr in college for one semester or instead try Statistics in the hope that it will be easier/different?

Background info: I took 17 APs yet foolishly slacked off senior yr with mostly Bs in all of them yet am in fact an A-student imo. I will attend UT - San Antonio for one year and if my GPA is 3.2 and above, I will transfer to Austin, UT's flagship campus. So, I have to complete all my pre-med reqs by the end of junior yr yet also need a high GPA to transfer successfully.. what to do?

Thanks in advance for any help!

yes retake calc. going over it the second time will be a TON easier. But you'll still need to take stats at some point. It's a really useful class.

i'll second retaking calc.

i did that, and it gave me a really solid foundation in calculus--made calc II easy as well.

Yeah...you should re-take calc...if you're going in it for med-school. There's just no way around it, but it really shouldn't be horrible. Just count on lots of dumb people being in your class. Just kidding, make sure you work hard. And take statistics regardless, at least one semester of it, it's helpful and they like statistics.
