<p>yes there are. As for competitiveness, it varies. There are more people, but there are also therefore more slots. So it’s really hard to determine.</p>

<p>here’s the thing…nominations can be made by congressmen who only represent a certain number of people regardless of the state. yes, the senatorial nominations are going to be more competitive since California is so populous and there are only 2 senators, but the congressional nomination will be similar to the rest of the nation.</p>
