Not sure on either count since they run things in a "rolling" fashion, too. My guess would be you will hear something about an interview in 2-4 weeks, then a decision will be made on your file and you'll be notified 2-6 weeks after that. 4-Year AFROTC scholarships are often more "Major Specific" than USAFA. They're very difficult to get for non-technical majors--and can be targeted to specific technical majors like EE or Meteorology (two that are currently high on the wanted list). If you say you're going to be a EE, earn a scholarship then change your mind and go Poli Sci (for example), you will probably lose the scholarship and may even have to pay some or all of it back... AT USAFA, you just have to complete the program, regardless of major. All USAFA cadets get the equivalent of a minor in Engineering anyway because of the core curriculum they take.

The acadmies do not offer interviews too all of the candidates, most of the time the academies will ask the liason officer to interview the candidates who they feel are competative.

The Academy itself (on-site) rarely does the interviews. When we say "interview" for an AFROTC scholarship or USAFA appointment, those are almost always done by Admissions Liaison Officers or serving AFROTC instructors. Such an interview and resulting recommendation is required for both programs.

thank you for your time and your willingness to assist. Early offers of appointments are only for highly outstanding candidates-correct? What credentials would you consider to be outstanding and highly competitive?

Just guessing--and based on a few anecdotal cases--I'd say 1400+ SAT, top 2% of HS class, multiple Varsity Letters, Eagle Scout/Boys-Girls State/etc. If you're an underrepresented minority with anywhere close to those stats, you'll be even more likely to receive an early thumbs up. USAFA, though, isn't nearly as big on early offers as USNA or USMA.

Thank you. The AFA board reviews files every week starting November. Do you know if they stop reviewing during January and then look at all files starting again during March. Or do they continue weekly review right up until March?

I think they reveiw files every TWO weeks--and I don't think they take a break.
