I recently came across a thread where people were looking for others who applied to Conn ED 1 for the Fall of 2012.

I am a recruited athlete and will be attending the school as a freshman next Fall and would love to answer any questions prospective students may have to the best of my ability. I can answer why I chose Conn over the other NESCAC schools I was looking at, give the pros and even the cons of the school, as well as any other info you guys would like to know.

WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS

Feel free to just post them here or if they are more private, send me a private message.

Congratulations Camel5–you will love Conn College. Parent of a recruited athlete who absolutely couldn’t be happier their college choice–they love it.

How is it possible that you have heard ED I already? Division III does not have scholarships and so your admission into the college could not possibly be dependent on a sport. I am also talking to the water polo coach but I do not think that it influences my admittance. I applied ED I as well. My GPA unweighted is a 3.7 and 4.1 weighted

Well I suppose you are right in the sense that D3 school do not offer scholarships. However, coaches are allocated a few “picks” which is essentially full support through admissions at certain schools. D1 moreso than D3. The rest of the possibly recruited athletes receive support to give them that little boost for admissions. I suppose I do not have a decision yet, but the coach assured me I was getting in since I was the top recruit.

I hope I answered your question. I will certainly respond to this thread when I get a decision, and I wish you the best of luck. Judging from the stats you provided and the fact you play a sport you should have no problem getting in! Best of luck!

I know this is maybe a bit late, but I am interested in playing womens college soccer at Conn and I was wondering how it is to be a student athlete here. Is there a lot of school spirit at Conn? Is it hard to juggle Conn’s challenging academics with sports here? Do you personally like the facilites.
