Calling everyone who'e gonna apply!!

Hey hey, why is this forum so quiet? Ain't anyone aplying to W&L?

The school still has some work to do as far as being a well recognized name in colleges (obviously it has no problems with those who know).

I'm applying, and W&L is the one reason why I'm not worried about college admissions. I'm not nearly arrogant enough to say it's a safety, but I'd like to think it's a tough match. I absolutely love the school, so if everything goes the way it should then there will be at least one school that I love that wants me.

I am applying.

I will strongly consider going if they give me a decent amount of money. I like the school but the name being less than ulta-prestigious might be a problem.

I come from a school where EVERYONE applies to at least one or two Ivies, and there are people for which Cornell is a safety, and no one here has heard of W&L, on average, one out of every 1600 students (or one every two years) at my school applies.

It's a fantastic school, I've fallen completely in love with it and applied ED even though I have more prestigous schools on my list, I can't see myself anywhere but W&L right now.

Great for you, Dima. That's such a refreshing thing to hear after being on CC for ~9 months.

Here's an applicant for you! Applying EDII. I was going to apply EDI to University of Richmond, but decided against it after they raised their tuition by $8,000! I visited Princeton, Georgetown, U. Richmond, W&L, Duke, William & Mary, and UVa last April. I fell in love with W&L instantly. The school just gives me a really good feeling, and a lot of that comes from the Honor System.

Here are some stats, for those interested:
SATI: M: 710 V: 700
SATII: Writing: 780 Literature: 650 Math1C: 650
ACT: English: 33 M,R,S: 28. Composite: 29 (only took once... could definitely have done better, but oh well.)
3.6 unweighted GPA, in all Honors and AP classes.

Oh yeah, and I'm from MAINE! I don't think they get too many lobstah-eating applicants...

If anyone who's been accepted in the past would like to comment on my chances, that would be great!

Hi Morgan, welcome to the board.

It looks to me like you have a pretty good chance of getting in. You have a better GPA then I did (though it probably helped me that I go to one of the top HS's in the nation), and your SAT's are a little lower than mine. Your SAT II's may hurt you though, what happened?

I don't like analyzing stats because there are other factors to take into account, like essays and you never know what admissions officers are looking for in an applicant.

Btw, you have some amazing EC's, how do you have time for all of that? Do you sleep?

IM me sometime, we can talk, my AIM is ForsbergsFan

Yeah, SATII's suck. I am retaking them in Jan, and while W&L won't get to see those in time for the EDII decision, they should help with any chances of GWH scholarships.

Also, I started the Young Conservatives Club at my high school. WE have about 5 Republicans :-).

Oh yeah, also, I'm a guy. Just had an... "interesting" experience with Dima343 on IM... which basically involved me indirectly hitting on him, thinking he was a girl. Also, he thought I was a girl until about halfway through the conversation. I can mark that as the first (and hopefully last) time I've hit on a guy!

Hey! Ur Statz are way better than mine, And i'm an international applicant. Got in ED 1! hehe...

Anyway, itz nice meeting u. Hopefully we'll be able to meet come Fall 2005.

Dima: Stil no word about the financial aid! argh.

If it helps, Morgan, I thought you were both girls too.

Good luck to the EDII kids though.

i'm applying, regular.

Hey, Me doing at WLU too. Not many applicant's from my area as well. And in between (for Morgan), I think your new SAT II scores won't be considered for GWHS.

Yeah blip, I just realized that as I got my letter yesterday. This SUCKS, especially because I think I did very well this time. ARGH! I wish I had received my November scores earlier so I wouldn't have missed the December registration deadline. I would like to think I had some other glaring flaw that would prevent me from being a finalist, other than my stupid SATII's. Maybe being in only the third decile of my class (because of unweighted GPA and tons of cheating by other kids) had something to do with it. Oh well; I wasn't really expecting it anyway until I saw that Dima got it, and has a slightly lower GPA but slightly higher SAT scores than I do.

I had sent all my documents to WLU about 7 days ago. But I have recieved no notification from the college till now. I have tried contacting the admission office of WLU but silence from there as well. I am so frustrated regarding this all. Can anyone please tell me what I should do??

P.S: I am an international Student

blip:(

Sometimes the admissions department takes a while to get back to you. At least that's been my experience. Rest assured they got your stuff; they should contact you soon.

Thanks Morgan!
Assurance is appreciated!
blip:)

Hmm, I don't remember getting anything from W&L after I sent in my completed app until I got the admissions decision, I could be wrong though.

I think I got something via snail mail; but what I was referring to is blip's email he sent to the admissions office. They usually respond, but it just takes a while.

Hit a guy?? What's this all a about Morgan??
