I can't do push ups. I prefer sit ups and taking amino acids and vitamins.
O, and i like yoga

:)

I did 70 pushups in ONE MINUTE!!!!
70 good ones on toes, 90 degree down

Just do 150 pushups 150 situps in sets of 25-30 without rest. This routine will build a lot of upper body strength. This is what I do offseason for wrestlineg.

Ilovetoreply,

I used to be in the same boat as you, only worse. After freshman year (I was sick all year), I could hardly do ten push-ups, period. Girls used to be able to out arm-wrestle me (I know, I know...). So I decided to increase my upper body strenght. A few months ago, when taking the West Point physical test, I did 90 in two minutes. Here's what worked for me:

During the weekends, I would do ten rounds of a consistent number of push-ups (doing other excercises inbetween, like abs and pullups). At first, I would do about 10 push-ups/ round. Eventually though, I built it up to about 40 per round (inclined push-ups).

Don't do just normal push-ups; I'm not sure if they're completely beneficial. Do a variety of excercises: normal push-up, wide-arm, 8-count, triangle (or tricep), or inclined (with your feet on a chair).

Oh yea, right before you time how many you can do in 2 minutes, first do about 3 push-ups to warm up, wait a minute or two, and then start. It helps.

wow, two really good responses right there, thanks

Ok, before I answer your question, I have to respond to PhatCatman: Possibly the biggest fitness error is to think that biceps are involved in pushups. They're not! Pushups work your triceps and your chest.

Push-ups do indeed work biceps. I have a military training handbook and it clearly outlines which muscles are used in each exercise; it denotes biceps as being used in pushups.

I dont know what to say, uc. If you knew how your msucles actually worked, you would not have said that. Here- your biceps make your arm bend. Your triceps straighten your arm. In pushups, its all chest and triceps because you either push-up, and straighten your arms, or you go back down to the floor, in wich case your triceps are still at work, slowing you down and keeping you in control.

lol push ups work your biceps??? uhh as an antagonist for balance maybe, but uhh biceps are the exact opposite action as tj said
