Dont worry! I am not going to do that 'chance me' thread hahaha

I just read a thread about how important it is to have chosen your major of interest if applying to CALS. Why is this? Because I thought any major was as equally as hard to get in for schools like CAS and human ecology.

Well... I know AEM and BIO are really hard to get in at CALS... but what about communication major?

Does anybody know how competitive it is?...

OH yea...
did anybody apply as communication major as well?
I hope we all get in and make great memories there..
Cornell is so my first choice...
I would still choose to go here even if HYP + Stanford + Columbia + MIT OR WHATEVER college accepts me...
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

yeah, one of CALS admissions officers told me that although there are more spots for Bio and AEM, he VAST majority of applications are for those programs. ex- bio has 600 spots open and 3600 applicants, they only accept 1/6, whereas viticulture has 40 spots and 80 apply, thus 1/2. I would think communications would be in the middle, because it is a somewhat common major, but not as common as Biology or Bussiness

I also applied to CALS Communications, but I'm not sure as to how competitive it is. I believe it has a 35% acceptance rate (I think this was mentioned at a Cornell visit, but I can't remember for sure. Its definetly more then AEM and Bio though! Either way, good luck, and hopefully I'll see you in the fall!

thank you for your replies!
Urg. 35 percent is not too high! lol
I was wishing it to be around 40 percent hahaha
Well, good to know.
