Cama, here are some questions for your daughter?

Taxguy,
Just wrote you a detailed reponse with Ds answers and was unaable to post it and it was erased. Do not have time now will repost later.

Rendering is like drafting/ arch. drawing . Not creative drawing

This is Cama's D,

Foundation year is a very intense, learning experience. For those who don’t have any prior art education its rather hard, and for those who have alot and are very diverse with their knowledge of art and skills it can be easy, but your always learning new things.

The professors are very friendly; they know when a person is slacking of so don’t! They are very help full to answering questions. And usually give you times to when you can talk to them privately, for example during office hours and after class.

3.reg: just like any other school, if you do it during the summer and get it done by male its very easy.

4.the dorms are very nice, as far as requesting them there usually true as long as you do it in advanced. Pantas is smaller rooms but homey and has different stalls for the bathroom and shower. Stabile has cinderblock walls and has a slightly larger room, and the bathroom doesn’t have any separate stalls. Canoeer if don’t know much about except that its a hall bathroom, not many people would like to dorm there. Every dorm is equipped with drafting tables and a window or two. Stabile has work rooms on each floor and Pantas only have one wich is the basement.

I’ve been told the cafeteria food is much better than other schools, we have the pie shop wich is pizza, coffee, pasta, and cake. The regular cafe has a "home style" food section a salad bar a sandwich making area, fast-food, and oriental food. Just the basics.

Will post the rest later.

Tell your daughter thanks--and keep it coming!!

Min decided this evening to not complete her assignments for Parsons and withdraw her application there. She will wait on RISD and Mass Art.

Cama, your daughter said that if you go to Pratt without prior art experience it can be tough. In general (or specifically for the interior design program), does she believe a student can still be successful (3.0 + GPA) at Pratt w/o art experience if they try really hard?

bumping up.

Wannagotocornell,
Sorry I haven't responeded sooner but my house as been av irtual sick house. Kids came home from college and everyone got ill. Anyway it is not that you would not be successful it is just that in your studio classes life will be alot easier if you have some kind of college level art classes under your belt. That goes for all majors not just interior design (foundation year).

cama, i know ur d loves pratt, but i was wondering how she delt with the broken downess of Pratt? like old bulidings & facilities, broken windows, rats, etc....

She didn't experience the problems you write about. Her freshman dorm is decent and if she had a rodent problem I am sure I would have heard about it from her. Perhaps you should visit for yourself and make your own assessment.

ok, thanks.

by the way, what dorm is she using?

She is in Stabile. Maybe there are problems in other dorms. Next yar she hopes to be in student apartments. We will see what they are all about and if there are any major problems. When D took a summer program at SVA while in high school I commented to the summer director about roaches and she replied in city housing this is something that is not unusual.
