Ms Edwards phoned me an hour ago. She has assured me we will receive a letter describing the changes in program and plans. This will go to all parents. I will be waiting to receive it. I told her of the information now being shared through various channels and she needs to address this. Of course, she has her side of the story and I am guessing it is somewhere in the middle. In the meantime, I have a direct number and will be corroborating with my son. I have also arranged for 2 responsible parties just around the corner from Kings College to check on them. I did let Ms Edwards know I have been working and traveling in London for the last decade so know the area well and will reach out. We spoke if the changes in classes and professors we spoke of changes in site seeing and I was told these would also be given to us. I am trusting we receive this in the next 24-48 hrs.

Happy to see a positive outcome… I did not know you prefer to read this forum or have someone read it for you, Mrs.Edwards. Have I known this, I could have been more successful
in communicating with you.Maybe I would have had more attention from you.One call from you would have been a great accomplishment. Of course the kids enrolled in the camp have priority and I hope they have a great time there but also, we should not forget the kids whose vacation plan (made long ahead of time) has been ruined.I am pretty sure you have an explanation for that later on…For right now, please take good care of those scholars and make them have great memories !!! That will not compensate for what you did to me, but it will help with your overall image.

Well 72 hrs later and even after an email sent directly to me saying that something was on the way…nothing!

Not panicked…just plain ticked! And disappointed for my son who had as I such high expectations…

i don’t know what all the fuss is about. we are having a blast with CCP. i have made the best friends of my life. our leaders are the best. (go elizabeth!) being in London is great. We go to West End shows almost every night. our classes are good be it a little hard - but what do you want for college stuff. yea the first week it was hard to to used to not being in Cambridge 3 parents freaked out and made their kids quit. Now all of us are so glad we are in London. We have the greatest activities. There are so many choices it is hard to decide which to choose. tonight I even got to meet, get autographs and photos with Na-Young Jeon and Rob Houchen leads in Les Mis. last night i had a near front seat for War Horse, tomorrow we are going to the Globe (not gona do that in Cambridge) Our leaders take us to great places in London every day or evening. The James Bond Ball in on cruise this year. this is the best summer of my life. i’d rather die than have my parents post here. some kids were jerking their parents around and making them worry on purpose - they were too dumb to know they were being played. wanta know what i’ve learned. change happens. deal with it, make the most of it. find the positive and grow. i feel so much more prepared for college. stuff in college changes all the time, i am glad i learned change can be better than what you thought you wanted. i would never trade CCP London for Cambridge any day.

@ccpstudent- it’s great to hear you’re enjoying the summer. I’m not at all surprised- I also worked on the 2011 programme and, despite difficulties, we made sure everyone had a fantastic time. Many of the students are still in touch now and speak highly of the fun they had on CCP. Parents should rest assured that, however chaotic, the chances are strong that the kids will come back grinning ear to ear, having had an incredible experience.

However, the real issue here is Taryn’s deteriorating relationships with those that make this possible, which seem to be caused by very questionable financial stability. The workers lost confidence in her in 2011, the colleges in 2012, and the parents in 2013. All that CantabGirl and others have shared is true (and plenty more- mediating a negotiation between Taryn and Fitzwilliam accommodation to ensure kids had a roof over their heads in 2011 was one of the stranger moments if my life).

I’ve given up on seeing what I’m owed from the work I did that summer- but I feel it’s important that Taryn is stopped from running summer schools. It’s only a matter of time until something goes very wrong and I don’t want that on my conscience. We’ve been trying hard in the UK to make sure Taryn can’t run any more summer schools (this has even made national news), but are struggling to stop things where it matters- people buying spots on the program. For those of you in the US with influence over this- please do what you can to help.

There are plenty of great summer schools out there which are not only fun, but well run, dependable, and secure- let’s make sure next years kids have a chance to go on one.

This is an interesting topic, but please keep things on track. I have removed a post which involved provocative language aimed at other CC members, as well as multiple later posts which referred back to it.

My student was supposed to go on this program as well but we never could get in touch with Ms. Edwards after the one call in March. Once she received our money and she knew we booked our airfare she refused to respond to calls or emails. NSHSS didn’t help-they just kept saying it was a legitimate program and she is busy planning in May and isn’t able to respond. If the negative press wasn’t true, why wouldn’t she take the time to respond at least to an email? How hard is that? What about June and July? To take money from parents and then ignore them and not give any details on where they will be staying is ridiculous-especially since she knew they wouldn’t let her book with them again. Did everyone realize the student manual she sent out was 2012’s manual or was that just what she sent us in June? Her letter also stated the final packet would come within the next 10 days and include a parent directory but that never came either-big surprise. We never even knew which classes we were signed up for. She refuses to respond to me or my attorney. I am hoping to get together with other parents to file a class action claim against her. We are out the entire amount and not one person there even noticed they were missing a paid student on the program.

And just to add, I also was told by the Lake Forest Travel Agency in May that they were no longer working for her because they couldn’t get in touch with her. So it seems she ignores everyone. I believe NSHSS is responsible as well and should share in the blame since we never would have heard of this program had they not emailed us about their “partnership”. I know I am not the only person who called them when Ms. Edwards “disappeared”.

I would be interested in working together with others who were victims of her fraud.

I am also interested in teaming up to get my money back, Taryn Edwards is not responding to me and has been misleading me since February. I would appreciate any contact numbers for her.

I will reach out also…

Mr Dooley…you should be aware that when Ms Edwards did reach out it was to make the request that I delete my comments on this site AND to tell me she did not let my son know about what was being posted…I let here know she was welcome to set the story straight anytime she wanted…yes, the students did make the most of the trip however NOT at all what was offered. In addition, the one day they went to Cambridge they were instructed the could NOT wear or carry anything that identified them individually or as a grp as the Cambridge College program…

@ StressedParent2 - I will try to connect with you, we r in exactly same situation…
