As a student at Pepperdine, I was shocked by the CampusVibe review.

The mother/daughter's biggest issue seemed to be all the stairs, the dorms being on a hill and constantly going "up and down." Well, maybe that's part of the reason we don't have many out of shape people here. It's honestly not that bad. If you are in good shape, you won't consider it a challenge. It's certainly not a good reason to no longer consider a school, unless your physical condition prevents you.

And concrete everywhere? That's the last thing I would expect to hear. All I ever notice is nature. In any given direction, you will find scenic views: The Pacific ocean, the cliffs, the canyon, the hills, even an occasional deer seen through my dorm room window. If they really want to see a campus that's all concrete, they should try UC Irvine.

As for the tour guide not being excited about them being there, tours are not conducted exclusively when her daughter in particular is deciding on a school. Tour guides lead tours all year round, using the same script, for everyone from middle school students to high school freshman to applicants. Unless you come on admit day, you never know what kind of group or guide you'll get.

The reviewer's impression that, because of the attitude of A SINGLE TOUR GUIDE, Pepperdine doesn't care about its admitted students could not be more off base. The largely Christian student body is probably one of the most welcoming and friendly. If they had asked any student sitting in the Caf or walking around for help, I can say with certainty that they would have enthusiastically offered it.

Honestly, I hope prospective students can identify a reviewer that is too harsh and sensitive. I'm glad she decided not to attend Pepperdine, because we simply don't have many people with negative attitudes here and it would not have been a good fit.

If walking up and down hills poses too much of an inconvenience, don't come to Pepperdine and complain about it. Please.
