Again, it may well be an automatic removal of the Pell until a change processes. Wait a couple days to see what happens … or better yet, stop by the financial aid office to ask.
Pell is an entitlement, where SEOG is not. Pell grants are given automatically where schools decide who should get SEOG. There are probably more flags set up by the federal processor for people who don’t meet the PELL requirement than there are people who do not meet SEOG (which are probably done manually).
Computers are wonderful, but they are sort of a double-edged sword. A student who loses Pell will most likely lose SEOG (depending on the school’s awarding rules), but it isn’t always an automatic back-off. As @sybbie719 notes, it may be a manual process. Generally, Pell will be automatically removed by the computer. But it isn’t always a removal-for-good situation. It could be interim, while a change processes - and the change may or may not affect the amount of the Pell. In other words, it could actually end up being put back on for the same amount it was before. Or it could result in a change of the Pell amount & perhaps a subsequent change to the SEOG amount. But there is no way to guess - so the OP should definitely talk to his/her aid office to find out what’s going on. If told “wait & see,” ask to talk to someone who can look at the file to see what’s going on. Someone should be able to review the notes & let you know what’s what.
