Can any current architecture students help me out? (Computer question)

I’m a senior in high school and was admitted to the BArch program. My dad and I are looking at computers right now, and going PC would be much less expensive than Mac. Will a PC get me through college fine? Thank you!

My S was accepted ED computer science, so we are not in your major. What I would suggest is going to April’s Open House, when you will meet with your major, probably the head of that department, and maybe current students. Ask then. If you can’t make it to Open House, email the department head and ask.

Go to your department’s site & there’s a link to the page, Computer Requirements. Not sure how up-to-date it is.

I am a current first year architecture student at Cal Poly. About half of the first year ARCH students use PCs, so you should be fine getting a PC. To help you out here is last year’s supply list. http://www.arch130.com/SupplyList.pdf</a>

anb8865 - thanks a bunch! I will most likely go with Lenovo then. I appreciate the help and the link to the supply list, that was exactly the insight I was looking for!

If you wait closer until summer (kind of) you’ll get better deals specific to college bound individuals. Just by the way PC=Personal Computer, it applies to both Mac and Windows. That said, Apple computers are very reliable and they have some of the best support with more actual stores to take it to. Lenovo does make pretty good laptops too, I have been happy with all of the ones that I have used.

An advantage to Windows is that if you have a software problem, someone else in the world has already had it. On Mac, if you have one, it’s a expletive hassle. Obviously Windows has better application compatibility, but lately Mac has been better on that front. OSX also just looks way better, and the quality of a Mac is unparalleled with other manufacturers.
