I already have the blue book..... What prep book do you people recommended and if you can state why you like them....I'm willing to buy a book for each section so if its better to buy individual books please say so. Im also willing to buy 2 book for a given section. Thanks in advance

PS: im trying to buy the books as soon as possible to start studying.

Get one book for the entire SAT. The official ones, I’ve found, are generally some of the best. Also, it’s probably not necessary that you buy it; you can just check it out from the library (if they have it).

Get the Official Study Guide by Collegeboard for practice. Before you practice, however, you need to brush up your skills. For math I always suggest PWN THE SAT just because it’s really helped me. I also suggest Chungs IF you have reached 700+ as an extra practice. Many people say it is not an accurate representation of the test, but it is just simply toned up to access the weak points. I’ve encountered many problems on the BB that were almost exactly the same as some on Chungs. Be super sure that you leave at least three real SAT exams to end you preparation (you’d be surprised how quickly they go by). For critical reading, the only thing you can do is memorize vocab, no book is necessary just download Flashcardlet if you have an iDevice or go on Quizlet.com if you don’t. The key to the passages is practice, also try various modes of reading/answering to see which one works for you. Lastly, writing can be improved by further knowledge and then exposure. I liked Barron’s 2400 SAT for WR and Sparknotes has a nice summary. Just google search more. Research all you can, once you practice more you’ll see the many tricks there are (or shortcuts, maybe except CR passages) and that the test is JUST REPETITION. Good luck : ) And don’t waste too much money on the books, many can be found in your library. Especially Barron’s since you’ll only be using it for a few weeks and then the rest is practice.

Your math score was probably low because of silly mistakes. Take your time to go through the questions > not necessarily slowing down but be steady with accuracy and your math score will improve. Try the Barron’s Math Book - Tight
To me reading has always been easy but SAT reading particularly difficult. Practice more and review the answers you’ll just get used to the system. Remember don’t be complacent and feel you know what you are doing make sure everything is supported.
Writing is easy>> Have the rules at the back of your head and make sure you identify them while answering or else it is a no error. Sometimes you might feel something sounds wrong, if you are a good English student trust your instinct especially at the beginning but if not use the rules.
Try these books> Blue Book of course, Barron’s 2400, Barron’s, Kaplan, Princeton Review.
I hope I’ve helped good luck.

thanks guys for the help and one last question. I’m going to purchase dr chungs book its kinda expensive being 28 on amazon. Do you think if I buy Barron’s 26th edition sat book or Barron’s 2400 they could help me in critical reading and writing and in math? I already ordered the blue book. Which one would you recommend?? or if there is another book that is better than Barron’s that reviews all the sections please list it? Thanks in advance for helping a new member i really appreciate it.

thanks… i just want to buy another book besides dr chungs to reinforce my writing and reading and maybe a bit of math before dr chungs. I dont want to buy grammatix or rocket revolution because it is to expensive for me. At the most i want to spend 30 dollars (thats my budget) so i can buy a workbook for a particular section and then an overall book. What do you people recommend?? I know there are many like barron’s 26th edition, Barron’s 2400, Kaplan SAT Grubers 2400 and others. Can someone help me as i want to buy the book either tonight or tomorrow in the morning

thanks aares1 grammatix is really good for critical reading now what book should i buy for writing and then a overall book for all 3?? please someone else input info so i can buy the books tomorrow in the morning

The blue book is great and so is the Kaplan writing book and Barons critical reading book. Try learning 25 new SAT words each week and study the full pile every day, until you get to about 150… then you can split the pile and alternate days of study. You have a shot! Just work really hard!! I went from a 1750 (520 cr/570 m/660 w) in March to a 1960 (630 cr/630 m/700 w) in June from studying and practice tests. Practice tests are the key to success.

1005pker i already have the blue book and just want an additional book i also have grammatix and dr chungs. i just want an overall book that has all three sections and a specific book for writing.

So sorry that I am responding so late lperez2442… I recommend the Official SAT Study Guide from College Board, the Kaplan Writing book, and the Barrons Critical Reading book.
