Can anyone provide any insight on the internship/job placement/recruiting situation at UW?

Hi all,

I'm a student who is looking to transfer soon, I currently go to GWU. I'm an Economics major and I'm interested in going into Finance or Consulting. I know these are pretty competitive areas and that Madison is not necessarily a "target" and I know the best advice is networking with alumni, joining Investment club, & keeping high grades but as a whole does anyone have any information on what the general job placement is like coming out after graduation? Do a good amount of grads have job offers before graduation? This is speaking generally not just for Finance or Consulting.

Thank you all for your time and help.

The finance major is in the School of Business which has an excellent Business Career Center to assist students with internship and full-time job placement.

Economics is a major in the College of Letters & Science. I am less familiar with placement help in L&S but there are career fairs each semester too.

‘Buckynet’ is the online job search utility for students and alumni to upload resumes, search for opportunites, apply for jobs, and schedule interviews.

Econ majors have a small office of their own. I know they have contacts with some of the IBanks and such. The take placement related trips to Chicago. Also access to L&S career services.
