Out of curiosity, I really want to know if you’re applying to a college, can that college find out about your College Confidential account?
No. Especially because you don’t use your real name.
Unless you post enough info to be unambiguous.
Anybody to create a CC account. If you’ve been super specific about what schools you’re applying to and your unique ECs, someone with time on their hands might figure out who you are. That’s why it’s not a great idea to be super specific. Then again, AOs don’t have a lot of time on their hands this time of year.
Sure, if you post enough identifying info. Some colleges have reps out here, too. But I think they mostly stick to their own college forums.

I haven’t posted anything regarding what schools I am applying to and my extracurriculars. I also haven’t posted anything very personal such as my real name or what school I go to. However, my username contains my initials and it has the word “Gorilla”, which is also in my email address. I have a feeling that a college might find out about my account based on that.
Chill. My email also has the number 137 in it. Theyre not stalking you.
When in doubt, make sure that nothing you post could be a problem-- here or anywhere else online. If you want to ven in a way that could cause trouble, pick up the phone and talk to a friend in real life-- or pick them up and go out and grab a burger. Vent away and don’t worry about anyone misinterpreting your words.
So, 2 things:
• You are overestimating the amount of time that AO’s have if you believe that they are going to try to piece together info based on usernames for 40K applicants. Unless you have posted info saying "My name is ______ and I attend ______ HS, you’re fine.
• While it might me late for you, for other applicants, one should probably create a unique email for college admissions - one that is a bit more professional then SLGorilla at mailinator dot com.

No one can find your CC name using an email except maybe a CC moderator. Go find something else to do. You are worrying too much about this.
Anyone can google an email address and see what comes up. For that matter, anyone can Google a username and see what that leads to. But unless you’re dropping identical details via both, they can’t connect the two.
And adcoms don’t have time to play detective. So keep your nose clean and as said, find something better to worry about.

What everyone said above - adcomms are too busy to play detective for the most part - but if you don’t want to have to worry about whether someone will find out something about you, the first step is to not do anything that would be problematic and the second step is to not post about it on social media.
