Can engineering students apply to the honors college?

Just wondering, can engineering majors apply to the honors college?

Also, are the majors that we choose online binding?

And can engineering students apply for the scholars for medicine program?

Yes, No, Yes, but it's tough for enginessrs to get into med school, 1st on avg their GPA is lower b/c engineering is so damn hard and second after graduation they figure why grind further when I can get good pay right now. (My wife was an engineer for 10 yrs, Illinois U-C materials eng, Motorola, now a 4th yr medical student.)

Yes.

No, although I think you have to be admitted to the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences to declare one of their majors.

Yes. But why would you? An engineering degree is supposed to prepare you to work as an engineer; the Scholars for Medicine program is for people who are sure they want to attend Stony Brook's med school. I guess you could have an interest in clinical applications of BME or something, but a) I don't think there are many fields in biomedical engineering where an undergrad engineering degree and a medical degree would serve you as well as a PhD in BME, and b) be careful about GPA--Scholars for Medicine have to keep a 3.4 GPA, and the BME program (and all the other engineering programs) is a killer.
