Hi, I was just wondering if I could apply ed1 to UChicago and ea to MIT at the same time. My dream college is UChicago but if I can apply EA to MIT and it will not hurt my chances against UChicago, why not take my chance? I hope you can help!
Yes, you can as MIT’s EA is not restrictive. However, keep in mind that if you are admitted to both, you are REQUIRED to go to UChicago per the terms of your ED agreement (barring an inadequate financial aid offer etc.)
Hope that helps!

Yes. It appears you can, but as PikachuRocks15 said, you would have to attend UC if accepted. You may apply to both MIT and UC as EA if you want to keep your options open.
Okay thank you. I have another question though. If I am accepted to MIT (which is a very very low possibility but still asking) and the decision comes out earlier than UC, can I withdraw my ED application from UC?
Yes, but that’s a dangerous timing game to play. Your GC may not appreciate that strategy either, so make sure to discuss with them prior to submitting these apps.
If you are even thinking of playing that game you should just apply EA to both. MIT could defer you to RD (so you would still have a chance). You could find yourself committed to UC, wondering, “What if?” and tempted not to pull the MIT app as agreed. At that point your guidance counselor will back UC because you indeed committed to ED, and the integrity of the high school is at stake (putting at risk acceptances both for other students who are applying there this year and for future students who will apply).
