Hey everybody!
This is my first post on CC and I would really appreaciate any and all replies.
My question is am I smart enough to be a surgeon? I am a junior in HS with a 4.0 cummulative GPA. I took the PSAT in the fall and got a 221. I will take the SAT for the first time in May. I just got my ACT scores back and I got a 33 with my only prep being taking one practice test on my own.

Why can’t you?
Strive to go beyond your bounds and you could do everything you want…

From a student who’s killing himself studying english to achieve his aims.

Is surgery your passion? Personally I think it requires more than scores and numbers…

Probably. Since it looks like you’ll be going to a community college keep in mind that your psat will be comparatively low, and that it’ll probably take a perfect gpa, spectacular ECs, and fabulous recs to be able to make it in to your state flagship, where you will have to take biomedical engineering and get a 4.0 to have a shot at med school.

In all seriousness, of course you can become a surgeon. Keep in mind that these stats will probably only matter for undergrad admissions and that you still have to do well during undergrad. However, they certainly do indicate that presently you are on the right track.

High scores say little about intelligence.

Also, you need to get a college degree to be a surgeon.

Seriously, though, high school grades and scores don’t matter very much once you get into med school.

Nope. 10char

Besides brains, you need great hands and nerves of steel. GL. Oh BTW you also need college and med school and Hospital internships with mostly surgery rotations along with a MD license from the state,

Well the ego is there.

I hope i did not come off the wrong way with my first post. What i meant to ask was if my scores are high enough for a career in surgery to even be a possibility. I know there is no direct correlation between these scores and intelligence/ ability to be a surgeon and I probably didn’t write my original question well at all. I was just hoping to hear of any stories of kids with similar scores who went on to succeed as surgeons.
