Long story short, I am scared and feel ill-prepared about two more 300-level classes - they are hard and deal with concepts I have struggled with in the past. I don’t want to mess up and fail both those classes two times each, eventually being kicked out of my degree. Otherwise, I am not stressed out over anything else - I only need to complete my 400-levels.
I only need ~30 credits left to graduate. I have dealt with anxiety (I lost my period for 1 month, had a little bit of alopecia, talked to myself in my sleep for 1 month, stopped eating for 1 month, and was bed-ridden/lethargic for 1-2 months of summer), tears, and struggling/repeating multiple courses ever since I started this major; starting over with a new degree is a financial burden. I am ashamed - I am scared I cannot finish my degree, and everyone else around me is finishing a degree they are capable of handling.
– Scared, regretful electrical engineering student (why did I stick it out for this long?)
You need to walk right down to your mental health services at school. That is what they are there for. It is just a resource that is included in your tuition. Take advantage of it. Most schools have tutoring services. Again part of your tuition, go to office hours and found out what you need to know. How are you helping yourself? Talk to your counselor about other potential jobs opportunities that you can use your skills at if you truly don’t want to do this. Also if you didn’t do this what else are you interested in studying?
Yes, hope you are using or seek mental health support. Please go to an advisor and find out what options you have.
@SunnyRose you don’t need a degree to become an engineering technician. I do hope that your school have a very good tutoring service. The reason why engineering is hard sometimes it might be because you can’t find tutoring for a specific class. It happens all the time in engineering programs. No one seem to know the material. It happened when I was in my undergraduate studies and I was having trouble with C++ and can’t seem to find the tutor who know C++ that was back in 2004. So I suggest you find a very good tutor whether it is from your school or not. Because someone got to know the materials to your 400 level classes.
