Can I consider Rice as a Safety?

I recently got Deferred from Caltech so I'm really worried that I may just get rejected from a bunch of my higher Ivy League schools. Here are my stats (copied from older thread with some modifications to reflect what I put on apps):

GPA: 4.0 (straight A's) taking all of the hardest classes available

2330 SAT (790CR, 780M, 760W)

SAT2's: Physics, Biology M, Math 2, US History, Chinese all 800s

APs: Chinese, US History, Calculus BC, Comp Sci, Biology, [Microecon], [Statistics], [Physics C] all 5's ([brackets] denote taking this year)

Other courses: Taking online courses for CS, taken a few small courses at local college

EC (this is really just my top 5, I do a few more):
1) Co-founder and 3 year president of Science Club (basically runs the USABO, and other Olympiads, as well as local competitions)
2) JV Tennis freshmen year, Varsity Tennis other 3 years
3) Piano for 11 years
4) Robotics electrical team lead (2.5 years)
5) Science department TA for 2 years(technically not "work" but at my school, there is so much to do that I spend 2+ hours a day 5 days a week grading/setting up labs that it is essentially the same thing)

Awards:
3 year AIME qualifier
1st place at a regional engineering competition
Other small local competitions in math and science, mediocre placing (ex: 6th place or so)

Volunteering (I don't focus on this much because I don't consider it a big part of my life):
60ish hours at a local soup kitchen
50ish hours through volunteering clubs at school

Basically, the question is in the title. Furthermore, knowing that MIT decisions are coming out this Saturday, I think I'm losing sleep worrying about my results. Can someone please reassure me/break the truth?

Did you apply to any safties. Rice is not a safety, for you it is a match.

ya dude. heck ya its a safety if u can pay for it.

Yes, Rice is a really low match. But I’m basically positive they will accept you. I see no reason why they wouldn’t. I’m sorry you got deferred:(. I’d be shocked if you were rejected to all your Ivies. Good luck!! Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1426652-ohio-state-chances.html

Rice is never a safety to anyone. However, Rice is not a reach for you either. Match.

You really only need 1 safety, though.

I wouldn’t make a gamble with that being one of your only safeties. Rice especially considers demonstrated interest in their program, so if you haven’t visited or whatnot they may give less preference to you than someone who’s demonstrated interest in the program from day 1. I am, by the question, assuming you haven’t visited; just note that it’s perfectly fine to apply for a fairly reputable school, but it’s probably better to have a progressive range of safeties (with a guaranteed full ride, then a school with decent financial assistance, then a low match like Rice, etc.) than to put up a gambit for a fairly selective program with virtually no financial assistance. Obviously this changes if you qualify for FAFSA money or have parents willing to pay for your education.

Rice is very small, and very selective. In some respects it is a more difficult admission than some of the Ivies. Your stats say you have a terrific chance, but I wouldn’t consider it a safety. Caltech might be the hardest admission of any college in the nation.

Rice is never a safety, they are a match for you. You need a school that is a bit easier to get into.

Tufts, USC and BC are safeties for you imo.
