Can I drop my grade at UCI if I do not do well the first year? If i do poorly is there away my grades could be dropped if I choose to transfer to a different school (Private, CC etc.). If there is any need for clarification please just ask ( I know people can be awfully picky on this website, no need to be harsh)
Thank you all for the help
No. Your grades will follow you where ever you plan to transfer.
Is there away someone can leave UCI in between quarters?
You can withdraw anytime but if you have completed classes with grades, these will be on your permanant college record.
oh okay I see, so if I wanted to withdraw and I wasn’t on academic probation, I just want to get better grades then lets say B’s and C’s, I could leave after first quarter?
Yes.
Will dropping out of a UC and going to community college affect my chances of transferring back to a UC?
Why are you even considering dropping out of UCI when you haven’t even started attending? If you feel the school will be too academically challenging, then consider another school where you feel you will do better. Do not go to UCI with the intent of withdrawing when classes start getting difficult, since this will be setting yourself up to failure from the beginning.
The only problem is that I do not know the difficulty of the course load. I just want to plan ahead if anything like this happens. I definitely do not plan on attending a school merely to fail out, I just need to see all my options.
Most Freshman start off Fall quarter with 12-15 units, to help ease into the transition from HS to College and get a feel for the fast pace of the quarter system. There are many resources available to you if you feel you are falling behind in your classes. Professor or TA office hours and tutoring services are available and I highly recommend you seek out help if needed. If you were accepted to UCI, admissions must feel that your academic record is good enough to handle the course load, so go in with a good attitude and make the most of your opportunities. Good Luck.
If you get accepted, you can handle the course load. What major are you?
I am a Chemistry major but i’m planning on changing it before May ends. I just don’t know if i should pick a major or go undecided.
And thank you both for all the help I truly appreciate it
