Can I get a better score on the SAT?

I'm a sophomore, top of my class with a 4.0 UW GPA. I have a lot of extracurricular, especially those in the science fields. I am pretty much a top student, but did horribly on my PSAT. I got a 73 on math, 46 on CR and 41 reading (total score is 160). This is terrible I know.. This came from no preparation in any of the subjects prior to it and I didn't really care for it much at the time. I am going to take the SAT in March and I want to get a higher score. I am going to prepare for math on my own so I can get a higher score (750+) and I will have a great private tutor for the CR and writing sections. Do you think it will be possible for me to pull both scores up to at least a 700 each? The scores I got were really nothing like me. I am sure the teachers will be disappointed and maybe even concerned. I want a 2100 because I plan to apply to top schools (HYPSM, Duke, etc.) and of course some in state schools like UNC Chapel Hill. My dream is to get in Duke ED, so I truly need at least a 2150 to have any chance.

Thanks.

PS: I know this is in the wrong forum section, but how do colleges look at students who graduate from early colleges? My little brother in 8th grade got into one which is in partnership with a university and if he were to go I would make sure for him to take the rigorous courses at the university (this early college does not offer AP classes).

“Practice makes (almost) perfect” - some wise person

Use the Direct Hits Vocabulary books to help improve you Reading and Writing score. Also do the tests on the blue book under timed conditions.

if you’re determined to do better and do a good amount of practice, yes. make that test your b****

of course you can get better scores just study vocabs and read as many newspaper articles as you can and study blue book too
