My Dad is a visiting professor at Columbia University. I don’t know if this could help.

I am really nervous, and really want to get into a good school. However I know it’s a highly competitive school. I just want to know if I have a shot.

Yes you have a shot, however at a schools with single digit acceptance rates, “having a shot” shouldn’t be a reason for any applicant to be particularly confident.

Columbia also has a women’s only college: Barnard with an overall acceptance rate 2.5X that of Columbia University.

Your SAT put you at about the 75th percentile for Barnard. Would seriously consider putting your app in there. Check the Barnard forum on this site for more info.

Also have your Dad check with the admin to see if there is any benefit in admissions for children of visiting faculty. Certainly doesn’t hurt to have that on your app, or inquire.
