Can i get into a descent college?

This all is going to be a lot so get prepared!

I want to be a doctor, but I did not know what I wanted to do in high school. I grew up with no goals or dreams for myself but after high school I needed a plan so I decided to become a CVA (certified veterinary assistant) so I did. Right after high school I started class and now im certified and am currently working at a pet hospital which is awesome I love my job but I am going to leave vet med and go to human med. If only I knew where I was at today I would have kicked ass in high school but I just didn't care then. (im 19 btw) so now that I have discovered my love and passion for medicine I want to be an MD and I will do whatever it takes. So currently im looking up tons and tons of colleges to apply to. Im afraid that I wont get into a good college because of my grades in high school. I did not do well in high school my grades were below average to average (B, C, D's) and im not sure what my GPA was but I am going to call my high school for all my transcripts and stuff & i never took my SAT's but i signed up to take them in January. My main problem is if im have a chance of getting into a good college (I know I wont get into Harvard or Princeton) but I do want a college were I can get a good education and begin my medical career. Also when should I start applying to colleges? Is there a certain time in the year I should and shouldn't? I know I have to take my SAT's first but after that? I mean most colleges are enrolling students now and classes start in the spring but I have obviously take my SAT in January before I can apply. Should I wait till fall of next year? This means I wont be getting into any college till a year from now but if that's the way it has to be that's fine with me. As long as a I can get into a college.
Anyone have any advice, info, tips?

Thanks for your time.

On the when you should apply, you basically have to do it next year no matter what at this point. It’s a couple days till January and you haven’t even take. Sats yet, only way I see you going in spring is if you enroll in local cc which isn’t a bad idea. Usually you apply to 4 years college around this time of year for next fall. Get your transcripts and take sats. Get recs and write essays, and apply next fall of just start at cc spring if you can and what to.

Thank you!

I would recommend starting in a community college and then transferring to a quality university. That way you can work on getting a stellar GPA to show the university for admissions. You shouldn’t have a problem getting into a community college because they usually accept most students. Take useful classes - either ones that will catch you up on subjects you’ve fallen behind in, or classes that will could for general education requirements at universities. Shoot for A’s and B’s, and get tutoring if you need it. Also, if you feel up to it, try volunteering with a few things or joining a club. If you don’t have time, that’s okay, especially if you’re working while you go to school.

Good luck! Ambition a little later is better than no ambition at all! Work hard and you’ll get to where you want to be.

I’m confused, you’re still in high school, want to go to a “good” college yet don’t know your GPA and haven’t taken the SAT yet? What grade are you in? You don’t apply to college until fall of senior year.
Or are you taking a gap year or something? I agree with others that oh should look into community colleges and work your way up from there.
Best of luck to you!

Do you have an associates degree? I am not familiar with what training is needed to become a CVA. I would recommend starting a habit of reading literature right now, so you can improve your grammar/SAT skills.

If you have an AA degree, your high school record may not matter. Target a couple of schools (likely your “State” University, or your “State” State University). Call admissions and ask them how to apply and whether you will apply as a freshman or a transfer (your CVA may have transferable credits).

You have not given enough information about your situation to get valuable advice back from us. The main question is the training you took (and where) to achieve CVA; and grades you made.

Are you sure you want to go to caving school?
